Sutherland Communications : Project overview

Sutherland Communications is the brainchild of husband and wife team Richard and Jill Willis, who in addition to their role as mentors and business consultants, are also directors of web based career mentoring site 925dream, and own and run their own successful cafe catering business, named Best UK Sandwich Bar 2009 and New Business of the Year 2008.

Their new website needed to be easy to update and collect the email addresses of people interested in owning their own cafe business.

How we helped on this project

We designed and built this website. It's based on a version of our custom Content Management System (CMS) and the MySQL database platform.

We also provide web hosting and email services for Sutherland Comms and Taste, Rich and Jill's cafe business.

YouTube Video Embedding

In 2009, Jill appeared on the BBC's Working Lunch programme to discuss how business owners can actually proper during recession.

We encoded the video from a DVD recording and embedded it into a lightbox on the website.

Email subscription feature

Having won multiple awards and even written a book, Rich and Jill needed an easy for them to stay in touch with people interested in their achievements.

We built an email subscription feature with anti-span facility. Subscribers details are stored securely and administrators can log in to access the list. It's also possible for people to unsubscribe from the mailing list if they no longer want to receive emails.
